About Sacred Pines

For many years I have dreamed of creating a space that is open to individuals and groups who need to retreat.  I have benefited from the silence and stillness of being on retreat myself, and I know how healing and restorative it can be.

I am Laura Edmonds Thornton and I love creating sacred space for people.  I have over 25 years of ministry experience working with families in several different churches. Many times as ministers, parents and those in any helping and healing profession, we work so hard caring for others, that we neglect to care for ourselves.

During the pandemic, my dream of a retreat space began to take shape and I knew that it would be a safe and restful place for so many who are weary and burned out. The house is set up for individuals to come alone or to share the common space with another guest. You are welcome here, to rest and restore your body, mind and spirit.

We also welcome groups for day long retreats.  

Throughout my ministry I have intentionally brought groups of people together for retreats. Whether it’s
-a writing group for women
-a forgiveness retreat for parents
-a healing retreat for mothers with children of differing abilities
-a mindfulness day for families
-a planning session for a church board
-or a fun and creative scrapbook weekend
the goal is always to bring people into a safe and sacred space where they feel welcome, seen and heard.
